HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO PLACE AN ORDER?
Most of Magpies treats can be ordered 3 days ahead. Specialty cakes and catering orders usually require at least a week lead time. A good rule of thumb is: when you start planning your event/party, send an email to magpiesmattapoisett@gmail.com to get the conversation started.
WHAT INFORMATION DO I INCLUDE IN MY EMAIL WHEN STARTING AN ORDER?
Here's an example of really helpful information:
Hi, my daughter is turning 8 next Friday! I would love a chocolate cake with pink buttercream to feed 10 people. She loves sprinkles! Please let me know if this is doable. thank you!
If you have an idea of what you want but need help with inspiration I will talk you through your order until we get it just right.
WHY DO YOU SELL OUT SOMETIMES, WHY NOT JUST BAKE MORE?
Magpies is committed to the freshest of baked goods. That means starting baking at 3:30 in the morning (earlier during the holidays) to ensure that when you roll in at 7am, you have a great selection of treats right out of the oven. That being said, there is no hard science on how much to bake each morning to ensure that there are still treats at 1:30 in the afternoon. So, come in early for best selection, or place an order for guaranteed satisfaction.
I FORGOT TO PRE-ORDER FOR A BRUNCH I'M HAVING, WILL I BE LIMITED TO THE NUMBER OF THINGS I CAN PICK UP IN THE MORNING?
The limit for walk-in orders is 10 items.
Magpies is a small neighborhood bakery more equipped to serving regular Magpies friends and filing pre-orders and less for last minute large walk-in orders.
Pre-orders are the key to getting just what you want for your brunch, birthday party, shower... magpiesmattapoisett@gamil.com

WHAT KIND OOF INFORMATION DO YOU NEED WHEN I SEND AN EMAIL TO MAGPIESMATTAPOISETT@GMAIL.COM?
Something like the following;
"Hi, I'm looking for a chocolate cake with pink frosting for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loves sprinkles! Her birthday is next Friday. there will be 8 people eating cake. Does this work for you? thanks!"
if you're unsure about what you want, we can talk it out and come up with something you and your guests are bound to love.
SOMETIMES YOU SELL OUT EARLY, WHY NOT JUST BAKE MORE?
it can be frustrating not to get Magpies freshly baked goodies when you come into the shop later rather than earlier. I usually start baking by 3:30 in the morning so that the case is filled with the freshest of treats (and to ensure that pre-orders are ready when the bakery opens at 7:00 am). There's no hard science to how much will be enough on a given day, so a good rule of thumb is to come in the morning for best selection, or, pre-order for guaranteed goody satisfaction.

Yes, walk-in orders are limited to 10 items. Magpies is a small neighborhood bakery. To ensure that regular Magpies friends get the treats they are looking for (and not sell out before 10am ) I have had to limit requests for early morning large walk in orders. When you start planning your gathering, party, holiday is when you start an order at Magpies. It makes me happy to have everyone get just what they want!
